Windows Antivirus Software Review
Windows antivirus software is a necessity in today’s world of computers. Activities such as Internet browsing, game playing, shopping and business allow many opportunities for a virus to get on your computer. What is the best software? I will review the most popular choices and give you my opinion below.
Symantec Antivirus (Norton)
Symantec Antivirus is probably the most popular software on the market today. Norton is the name of the home users version. This Windows antivirus software is a very good choice. Symantec has an easy to use interface for beginners and is also easy to install. It does tend to use a lot of system resources and you may notice your computer being a little slower in responding to your commands. The software is updated daily with new virus definitions and program updates for a subscription fee. Overall, this is a solid product that you can depend on to keep you safe but, could use some tweaking.
Trend Micro Antivirus
Trend Micro is another very popular Windows antivirus software program. This program is more modern and more user friendly than most others. It tends to appeal to a younger group of people with edgy design and slogan. In detection tests Trend detects as well as any product and is lighter on system resources than Symantec. This software is also updated daily for a fee. The bottom line is that Trend Micro appears to be a better antivirus because it does not take as many system resources to run.
Kaspersky Antivirus
Kaspersky is most likely the least known Windows antivirus of this group but, is head and shoulders above the rest. Even though you may not know the name, this is the best antivirus on the market. In detection tests Kaspersky consistently scored higher than both of the other programs shown here. This software also is extremely light on system resource use. Like the other two it is updated daily via subscription. In my opinion this is definitely the best of the group and I would recommend it to everyone.
In conclusion, all of these Windows antivirus software packages are great products. Each would provide sufficient protection for any computer. With these products installed, your risk of getting a virus is very slight but, does still exist. For that reason alone I would opt for Kaspersky because of its stellar performance in detection tests. This gives you a much better chance of finding and removing a virus if you ever do get one.
